Convention Project
FEBC Outreach Project - $20,000 for Lives Under Construction Ranch
Lives Under Construction Ranch (LUC) is changing the lives of at-risk boys in their Christian residential treatment program. Through the use of Biblical counseling and by applying Christian principles to their lives, they are re-building broken homes and family relationships.
At the Ranch, boys are able to find purpose and develop their talents by acquiring various trade skills, excelling in education, and by feeling a part of the LUC family. Please join hands with others in the FEBC to help these boys make lasting changes in their lives.
The FEBC Convention Project this year will sponsor two boys at $5,000 each, with an additional $10,000 to be used toward completing the gym and electronics workshop at the Ranch. LUC Ranch provides each boy with an opportunity to learn a variety of trades, including carpentry, mechanics, lawn care, welding and electronics. The boys are very proud of the creations that they personally make and are able to market these things, such as barbecue grills shaped like a locomotive, to the general public.
Individuals and churches are encouraged to give to this project through October 15, 2008. Your gifts will greatly encourage the Ortmans and the boys of LUC Ranch and will enable at-risk boys to have a second chance at life — and an invitation to eternal life.

Social Positions
Download Position Statements (Adobe Reader required)
The Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches has formulated several statements to explain what it believes to be the biblical position on various social issues. Each issue was carefully researched before the position was written. The statement was then reviewed and revised by the FEBC Executive Committee.
Each of these statements has also been reviewed by the local FEBC congregations, which have often provided additional suggestions and clarifications. The statements were then revised again by the FEBC Executive Committee, redistributed to congregations, discussed in delegate sessions, and approved by the FEBC delegates at an annual convention.
Our goal is to clarify what we believe the Bible says about these social issues, then offer suggestions on how local congregations can respond to the biblical material to help their people “become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life … ” (Philippians 2:14-16 NIV).

History
Commissions
How Is the FEBC Organized?
We have a congregational form of government in that each congregation appoints delegates, giving them direction on how to vote. At the annual convention, delegates elect officers and commission members and vote on other issues that are brought before the body. Delegates may also bring items of business before the convention as directed by their home church.
How Does it Function?
The Executive Committee presides over the annual conventions and workshops Footnote . It coordinates the work of the commissions. Seven commissions develop and facilitate policy and program decisions.
Policy is not established by paid staff or, for that matter, by the Executive Committee. Policies may be initiated in extension, committee or Executive meetings, then receive approval of the Executive Committee before ratification by the churches through their delegates.

Executive Committee
Composed of the President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Administrator, Ministries Coordinator (Ex Officio) and the chairmen of six commissions, the Executive Committee is responsible for clarifying vision, goal setting and evaluation. It gives leadership to the organization and coordinates the ministries of our Fellowship.
The Executive Committee:
- Coordinates the work of commissions
- Protects the integrity of our constitution and doctrine
- Nominates or appoints individuals for Executive and commission positions
- Plans annual Workshop (February) and Convention (July)
- Maintains fraternal relationships (NAE, EFC, etc.)
Commission on Churches
Though we are a fellowship of autonomous churches, the Commission on Churches provides services and advice which enables and protects local churches.
The Commission on Churches:
- Examines and recommends candidates for licensing and ordination
- Assists in pastoral search and screening
- Advises and assists FEBC churches with internal conflict
- Encourages pastoral and lay leadership training
- Develops new pastors through internship program
Commission on Church Planting
When the first missionaries from FEBC churches went out in 1906, one couple was commissioned to India and the other to Chicago. Since then the FEBC has tried to encourage both world missions and church planting in North America.
The Commission on Church Planting:
- Establishes and maintains church planting policies, guidelines, goals and strategies
- Works with regional extensions and church planting committees
- Approves selection of church planting personnel
- Provides financial assistance
Commission on Education
One of the issues that led to the formation of the FEBC was the conviction that a church should be a training center as well as a worship center. The Commission on Education seeks to encourage our people to learn God’s character, activities, will, and plan throughout their lives.
The Commission on Education:
- Assesses curriculum and education tools for FEBC churches
- Supports a variety of educational ministries to children, youth and adults
- Manages the Christian Ministry Scholarship program
- Maintains the FEBC Video Library
- Publishes the bi-monthly magazine Fellowship Focus
Commission on Missions
The first convention of the FEBC established a Missions Committee. In the intervening years, hundreds of missionaries have been sent out by FEBC churches. Missionaries from our churches have served under evangelical faith mission boards such as Avant Ministries, SEND International and Wycliffe Bible Translators. Today twelve of our missionary units serve in leadership of the home staff of mission boards.
The Commission on Missions:
- Promotes world missions in FEBC churches
- Encourages missionaries from FEBC churches
- Assists church planting among FEBC Churches in South America
- Provides grants for college students engaged in short-term missions
- Encourages students to consider careers in missions
Commission on Outreach
The Commission on Outreach provides resources and approaches to assist individual churches in establishing and maintaining an outreach passion throughout their respective congregations.
This commission was formed in July 2004. Thus specific details are not yet identified.
Commission of Trustees
The FEBC owns or co-owns the property of many of our churches. Because churches are sharing their equity through co-ownership, the FEBC is able to co-sign capital improvement loans for member churches. It also holds various ministry funds in trust. The Commission of Trustees oversees these properties and funds.
The Commission of Trustees:
- Oversees FEBC funds and investments
- Manages FEBC real estate
- Insures integrity in accounting procedures and government reporting
- Provides grants & loans for church building programs
- Represents the FEBC in corporate and legal matters
Commission on Women’s Ministries
Fellowship and service have long been a tradition among the women of the FEBC. Their projects have been a valuable encouragement to missionaries and needy people throughout the world. The Commission on Women’s Ministries seeks to affirm the ministries of our FEBC Women and offers guidance to local women’s ministries groups. This commission is represented on the Executive Committee by the FEBC Vice-President.
The Commission on Women’s Ministries:
- Promotes spiritual fellowship and growth among FEBC women
- Provides resources for local women’s ministries groups
- Encourage FEBC missionaries through projects and prayer
Articles of Faith
Abridged
A. Holy Scripture
We believe in the Holy Scriptures, the Old and New Testament, as the very Word of God, verbally inspired in all parts and therefore wholly without error as originally given of God. They are the final and supreme authority. (Matt. 5:18; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21).
B. God
We believe in the One Triune God, who is personal, spirit, and sovereign; perfect, infinite and eternal in His being, self-existence, holiness, love, wisdom and power; absolutely separate and above the world as its Creator and yet everywhere present in the world as the upholder of all things. (Gen. 1:1; Psa. 90:2; Psa. 139:1-16; John 4:24; Col. 1:15-17).
C. Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is eternal and was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born a man by the virgin birth thus to continue forever as both true God and true man. He made full atonement for our sins through His vicarious suffering and death on the cross; He rose triumphantly from the grave the third day, ascended into heaven, and is now at the right hand of God interceding on our behalf. (Matt. 1:18-25; Isa. 53:4-6; Heb. 4:14-16).
D. The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person in the Godhead, is the Divine Agent in creation, revelation, and redemption. In this age of grace He convicts the world of sin, regenerates those who believe, and indwells, baptizes, seals, empowers, guides, teaches, and gives spiritual gifts to believers. (Gen. 1:2; Acts 5:3-4; John 16:8-11; I Cor 6:19, 12:13; Eph 4:30).
E. Trinity
We believe that God eternally exists in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are of one essence and equal in power and glory, therefore, to be honored and worshiped equally as true God. (Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14).
F. Satan
We believe that Satan is a real, supernatural personality, a fallen angel of great power, cunning, and wickedness. He is the enemy of God and of all good, seeking the destruction of Christ and the eternal ruin of every person. However, Satan has been defeated by Christ’s death and is doomed to be cast into the lake of fire. (Mark 1:13; John 13:2; Col. 2:15; Rev. 20:10).
G. Angels
We believe in the existence of angels, a higher order of created spiritual beings superior to man. They were active in the earthly life and ministry of Jesus Christ, and presently minister to believers. (Matt. 4:11; Luke 1:28-35; Acts 1:10-11; Heb. 1:13-14).
H. Man
1. His Creation
We believe that man was directly created by God in the divine image. (Gen. 1:26-27).
2. His Fall
We believe that man was originally sinless, but when tempted by Satan, disobeyed God’s command and became a sinful creature incurring both physical and spiritual death. As a result all members of the human race are born in sin and are sinners by nature and practice. (Gen. 2:15-17, 3:1-6; Rom. 1:19-32, 3:23, 5:12).
3. His Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, freely offered to us on the basis of Christ’s substitutionary death on the cross. It is received by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and is in no way obtained by human effort. This salvation results in eternal life, a new nature, right standing before God, sonship in the family of God, and provision for sanctification and victory over the power of sin. (John 1:12-13, 3:3-8; Rom. 3:24; Gal. 3:26, 5:22-23; Eph. 2:8-9).
4. His Resurrection
We believe that every person will be physically raised from the dead: the saved to life everlasting and the unsaved to eternal condemnation (John 5:28, 29).
I. Church
We believe in the one true church, the body and bride of Christ, which He began to build on the day of Pentecost and will complete at His second coming, and into which all regenerated believers of this age are baptized by the Holy Spirit. We believe that the local visible church is composed of professing, baptized believers in Christ, voluntarily joined together and meeting at stated times to worship, fellowship, observe ordinances, and when necessary, administer and accept discipline. (Matt. 16:18, 28:18-20; Acts 2:41-47; 1 Cor. 12:13; Heb. 10:25).
J. The End Times
1. Second Coming of Christ
We believe in the personal, visible, imminent, premillennial return of Christ to rapture all believers; the great tribulation; the revelation of Christ at the end of the great tribulation period; the Millennial Age; and The Great White Throne judgment. (Matt. 24:21-31; John 14:3; Acts 1:11; 1 Thes. 4:13-17; Rev. 19:11-16, 20:1-15).
2. The Final State
We believe that believers will be judged according to their deeds at the judgment seat of Christ and that they will enjoy a future life in the presence of Christ; and that unbelievers will be judged according to their works at the Great White Throne and subsequently cast into the lake of fire where they will consciously suffer forever. (1 Cor. 3:11-15; 2 Cor. 5:10; Rev. 20:11-15, 22:12).
Note: The complete Articles of Faith is included in the Constitution of the Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches.
